• We were introduced to WECO by our architect as one of a shortlist of building firms who could be the principal contractor for the renovation and extension of our hillside farmhouse in Shropshire on a fixed price basis.
After reviewing quotes from 5 different firms we selected WECO because their price was competitive and they seemed excited and interested in the project. We liked and felt like we could trust them from the outset.
Chris and Will clearly knew what they were doing from all their expertise and experience from previous senior roles in the construction sector, and with WECO they had backed themselves and invested in starting their own company focussed on projects like ours in and around Shropshire. They felt like a local family firm which really appealed to us rather than dealing with a large corporate business.
The project was estimated to run for around 12 months - we agreed a start date and WECO started work promptly in October 2024.
This was the first building project we had ever been involved in and it was nerve wracking knowing you were signing up to spend your life savings to go through the disruption and stress of a building project for a year of your life. We’d decided to live on site throughout the project to keep the budget under control which added to the anxiety going into it.
From day one the whole WECO team were great. They have a great group of experienced professional builders and craftsmen, plus the subcontractors they use for various trades are all clearly carefully selected and have been working with them for years. Everyone was really considerate of the fact that we were living on site and were polite, friendly and a genuine pleasure to have around.
The management of the project was handled really well by WECO throughout and I was kept informed of progress via the weekly meetings we had on site. These meetings were a great way to keep in touch with progress and to resolve the odd unexpected challenge or quick decision as and when they came up. Any project like this will have its tricky moments and the good working relationship we had with Weco from the off meant we were able to solve all of them together without any fuss. We completed the project 14 months later (in time for Christmas!) and we are very very happy with the end result. The thought and care which WECO put into the construction process really shows through and we're seriously proud of our new home.
I would highly recommend WECO to anyone looking to do a similar large building project. We trusted them and they absolutely delivered - I feel like we were lucky to find them. (Ed - Bishops Castle)
  • We had a great experience with WECO from start to finish. Chris and Will are very professional, and pride themselves on the quality of their work and on their communication. They were always happy to discuss the work and make adjustments if we wanted. Everyone in their team was a pleasure to have in our house; courteous, reliable, considerate and friendly. I recommend them highly. The work done has completely transformed our living space into a bright and cheerful room for cooking, living and entertaining and we’ll be asking them to improve other parts of the house in due course. (Cai - Shrewsbury)
  • Weco Build Ltd were commissioned to build us a large extension onto the back of our house (a new kitchen/dining room) and convert the old kitchen of the house into a new downstairs bathroom. The work had to be done to a very tight budget and as we had to continue living in the house while all this was going on, it was important to get the work done as quickly as possible to beat the onset of winter weather. Chris and Will achieved both these aims admirably. Day after day they turned up for work with skilled employees or commissioned specialists (electricians/window fitters/plasterers) working efficiently and adeptly to do what needed to be done that day. The timetable was planned and stuck to and the work was done to very high standards. Chris is a master problem-solver - nothing phases him! The tradesmen he used were excellent and responded well to his instructions. All debris and rubbish was removed promptly and the site kept tidy throughout the whole process. The final snagging was completed quickly and we are delighted with the overall result. (Tina - Shrewsbury)
  • Chris and his team did a great job transforming my 50 year old concrete garage into a neat, fully insulated studio with modern French windows and a small patio. They worked quickly and competently in all weathers and at a very fair price. I would certainly hire them again and fully recommend WECO. (John - Montgomery)
  • Building a oak timber framed garage. Very helpful would have Chris & Will again Workmanship was spot on & addressed any issues had in a professional manner. Turned up so very reliable. Job was to build a 6m by 5.5m double garage from a timber frame kit, clad entire building bar two doors buildering a flash floor inside to enable more storage space. (Jonathon - Shrewsbury)
  • Wall removal was done within a few days to an excellent standard, it has completely transformed the kitchen/living area. Chris and his team are friendly, courteous and professional. Each step was explained and any extra work (I needed a steel girder support that wasn’t anticipated) was discussed and arranged, the job was still completed in good time and within budget. Very pleased with the result, would highly recommend WECO and have already asked for quotes for other jobs. (Jonnie - Burlton)
